FANTASY REALM ESSENTIALS

SOUNDCRAFT SFX STARTED AS A PET PROJECT BACK IN 2015.  IN AN ATTEMPT TO CREATE GENRE-SPECIFIC 'BOUTIQUE' SOUND EFFECTS PACKS FOR INDIE CREATORS, I STARTED WITH THE GENRE THAT WAS CLOSEST TO MY HEART.  FANTASY REALM ESSENTIALS WAS DEVELOPED OVER THE COURSE OF 5 MONTHS.  EMPLOYING EVERYTHING FROM FOLEY, TO FIELD RECORDING, TO DESIGNING, MIXING AND MASTERING. THIS FIRST ALBUM BECAME THE PATTERN FOR EACH ALBUM THAT FOLLOWED.

FEATURING 50 ORIGINAL TRACKS CREATED USING A MIXTURE OF FIELD RECORDINGS, FOLEY AND SYNTH DESIGN;  BLENDING VARIOUS ELEMENTS TOGETHER TO CREATE THE SOUNDS OF FANTASTIC GADGETS, ROBOTS, WEAPONS, VEHICLES, AND ENVIRONMENTS.

ARCADE ESSENTIALS

DEVELOPED OVER THE COURSE OF 3 MONTHS, THIS ALBUM FEATURES 5 ORIGINAL, 'RETRO ARCADE' TRACKS.  PLAYING WITH OLD SYNTHS AND 8-BIT/16/BIT EMULATORS, ARCADE ESSENTIALS WAS A BLAST TO PRODUCE.

 

WHEEL SURGE

FEATURING A MONOLITHIC TOWER OF 3D WHEELS, WHEEL SURGE WAS A BLAST TO DESIGN THE SOUNDSCAPE FOR.  THIS WAS A PROJECT THAT I TAG-TEAMED WITH COMPOSER, ADAM GREENLEE.  HE HANDLED THE MUSIC AND I HANDLED THE SOUND DESIGN.  I ALSO HAD THE PLEASURE OF WORKING WITH THE TALENTED EVAN YEOMAN, WHOSE VOICE WAS THE PERFECT FIT FOR THIS GIANT OF A GAME.  THE VIDEO BELOW IS REALLY JUST A SLIVER OF THE CONTENT CREATED FOR THIS MASSIVE GAME.

ATMOSPHERE ESSENTIALS

PROBABLY THE MOST RELAXING OF THE ESSENTIALS ALBUMS TO CREATE.   THE SOUNDS FROM THIS ALBUM WERE RECORDED IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS OVER THE COURSE OF 6 MONTHS.  IN ADDITION, THIS ALBUM ALSO FEATURES DESIGNED ENVIRONMENTS AND AMBIENT TEXTURES USING SYNTHS, FIELD RECORDINGS, AND A LOT OF WAV MANIPULATION.

THIS VIDEO, FEATURING MY ORIGINAL SOUND DESIGN, WAS MY SUBMISSION WHICH WON 2ND GRAND PRIZE AT THE 2019 BERLIN INTERNATIONAL SOUND DESIGN COMPETITION.  I HAD A BLAST PARTICIPATING IN THIS COMPETITION AND LOVED SEEING HOW PEOPLE FROM ALL AROUND THE WORLD APPROACHED THE SOUND FOR THIS SHORT FILM IN SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS. 

 

NIGHTMARE ESSENTIALS

THIS WAS HONESTLY THE MOST CHALLENGING SFX ALBUM TO DATE.  GOING INTO IT, I KNEW I DIDN'T WANT JUST A BUNCH OF GORE, AND I DEFINITELY DIDN'T WANT IT TO SOUND LIKE A RUN-OF-THE-MILL HALLOWEEN RECORD.  I WANTED A HORROR ALBUM THAT FELT HAUNTING AND UNSETTLING.  THIS ALBUM WAS MAINLY AN EXPERIMENT IN CREATING THE SORT OF SOUNDS YOU HOPE YOU DON'T HEAR WHEN YOU ARE ALONE IN THE DARK.  IT'S A MODEST FIRST ATTEMPT, AND HOPEFULLY JUST THE FIRST OF MORE TO COME.
